Called to Serve

Every member a minister.

As well as a place to belong, and a place to become, Kentuckytown is also a place to Serve.

Several ministry teams have been formed to better serve our members as well as the community. Below is a brief description of the purpose and goals of each team.

Events Ministry Team

Captain: Brenda Clayborn

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Events team is to plan and implement activities for the church that promote fellowship and outreach in to the community. This team will look for ways to drawn people into deeper relationships through activities of fellowship and fun.

Goals:

  1. To engage the whole church in relationships building and growth
  2. To provide activities that are non threatening for member to bring friends and family to get to know and experience our church
  3. To highlight the need of fellowship and joy within the body of Christ
  4. Allow members to use their gifts and talents for the good of the body

Suggested activities:

  1. Church wide picnic once a year
  2. Fall Fest
  3. Quarterly Sunday night Fellowships
  4. Over see Thanksgiving meal

All activities must be coordinated through the office and with the pastor’s approval to make sure activities fit in line with the church’s direction and calendar.

 

Encourager Ministry Team

Captain: Johnny Clayborn

Purpose and Goals

The Encourager ministry’s purpose is to show appreciation and encouragement to all who attend Kentuckytown Baptist Church. As people arrive on campus this ministry will greet them and help them gain access to the building. For guest, this ministry team will assist the guest to find their way to the appropriate rooms and classes. This ministry will oversee the Welcome Desk before and after the service to help members and attenders gain information about our church and it’s activities. The Encourager ministry will strive to speak encouragement to all who enter as well as thank everyone for honoring us with their presence in worship. This ministry will include providing security for the church.

Goals:

  1. Set up a schedule for team member to man the parking lots

and Welcome Desk each Sunday.

  1. Welcome every person onto our campus and help those who need help gain access to the building.
  2. Help people find seating in the Worship Center.
  3. Thank every one for coming and encouraging them to come again.
  4. Be aware of the surrounding during Sunday services and provide a safe environment for all who come.

Suggested Activities:

  1. Be proactive in gaining information about guest without offending them by giving them a Welcome brochure and gift either before or after the service.
  2. Position Greeters in the parking lots especially during bad weather for safe access to the buildings.
  3. Make appropriate suggestion for building security and safety!

Children’s Ministry Team

Captain: Jonnie Drennan

Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) 6  Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Children’s ministry team is to plan and oversee children’s activities that come alongside of parents and assist them in raising up children to know and walk with God. Realizing that the parents are to be the primary leader in the child’s spiritual development this team will help provide the parents with the tools needed for them to be effective and successful in discipling their own children.

Goals:

  1. To make sure the children have a safe and loving place where they learn the love of God and their worth in Christ.
  2. To provide age appropriate learning environments for each age group.
  3. To schedule events along with the church calendar that develops an understanding of God’s love and salvation.
  4. To provide fun activities through out the year to grow family participation with the church.
  5. To coordinate the curriculum and schedule of for children’s activities on Sundays and Wednesdays.

Suggested activities:

  1. Vacation Bible School
  2. Easter Egg-stravaganza teaching the glory of Christ’s resurrection
  3. Family picnics twice a year
  4. Birthday party of Jesus at Christmas time

Crisis Ministry Team

Captain: Pam Pratt

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Crisis ministry team is to assist members and others as they deal with crisis of life whether it is the death of a loved one, a health crisis, job loss, or any other crisis that may arrive. This team will provide coordination of the church body to meet the needs as they arise. This team will strive to make sure those in crisis feel the touch of God through the hands of member of Kentuckytown Baptist Church.

Goals:

  1. Provide for the immediate needs for church members loss of loved ones.
  2. Provide on going support for those who are grieving through the first 18 months of grief.
  3. Have plans in place to meet other crisis needs so the church will be ready to assist.

Suggested activities:

  1. Oversee meals for members that are dealing with issues that are hard to adjust to – birth of a baby, elderly, accident victims.
  2. Oversee the coordination of meals and funeral needs of members and member families.
  3. Keep up with grieving and sharing the grief books to help assist in dealing with loss.
  4. Plan procedures for other crisis
  5. Offer a grief class or grief seminar every year or two

Reach Ministry Team

Captain: Paul Cheek

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Reach team is to develop and implement activities that reach out to non-members and reach in to members to stimulate participation in Kentuckytown Baptist Church. This includes coordinating efforts with other teams that are engaged in community activities and efforts. This team will strive to keep attendees of KBC to be active and participating.

Goals:

  1. Develop a church wide attitude and effort to reach new people for Christ and assimilate them into KBC.
  2. To actively encourage attendees to participate in all parts of KBC – to belong, to become, to serve.
  3. To help equip members of KBC to share their faith

Suggested activities:

  1. A yearly Sunday to promote sharing one’s faith
  2. Plan and implement the “Welcome Home” Sunday in September
  3. Host the New Member’s class twice a year on a Saturday morning
  4. Develop an atmosphere of out reach through promoting members inviting and bring friends and family to KBC

Women’s Ministry Team

Captain: Stephanie Minzenmayer

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the women’s ministry team is to give women the opportunity to grow both spiritually and relationally as they become the unique individual that God has created them to be. This will be accomplished through a variety of events and programs planned by the team and for each year,

Goals:

  1. To reach and touch women with love.
  2. Help each woman to reach her full worth in Christ.
  3. Encourage women to use their talents, gifts and abilities God has given them.
  4. Reach un-churched women for Christ.
  5. Help build strong families through biblical principles.

Suggested Activities:

  1. Quarterly or Semi-annual Women’s Gathering
  2. Attend or put on a Women’s Retreat or conference
  3. Put on a Date Night for young couples
  4. Be in charge of the Holiday decorations for the church
  5. Bible Studies

Elevate Student Ministry

Youth Pastor: Thomas Hoch

“He must increase, but I must decrease.” – John 3:30 (ESV)

Elevate Student Ministries ministers to all students 6th-12th through fellowship, games, worship, and Bible study.

The student ministry exists to teach and equip students for the work of the Gospel, to lead students in worshiping the Lord through music, prayer, scripture, and service, and to see students be changed by God through the salvific work of Christ and grow in their relationship with God.

Facility Ministry Team

Captain Gary Schott

Purpose and Goals

The purpose of the Facility ministry team is to oversee and maintain the facilities and grounds of Kentuckytown Baptist Church so that those attending have a safe and comfortable experience. Scripture teaches us that what ever we do we are to do to the glory of God and that includes maintaining the property and buildings He has provided. This team will help provide leadership and direction in maintaining our property so that it looks attractive and function as it should.

Goals:

  1. To provide leadership and direction over maintenance issues as well as perform minor repairs as needed.
  2. To oversee and secure competent contractors for projects that require professional help.
  3. To monitor and oversee custodial and lawn maintenance personnel and advise the personnel committee of needed actions.

Suggested activities:

  1. Schedule workdays during the year.
  2. Have an annual evaluation for improvement for facilities.
  3. Have a safety inspection annually.
  4. Make sure parking lots are maintained with adequate parking for elderly and guests.

Men’s Ministry Team

To coordinate activities for the men in our church and community
